Steel Hang

Steel Hang 1

Layer(s): HANGERS, STEEL

Shortcut: STH

Associated: Insert One Hanger / Setup / Auto Hang

Ribbon: Insert Panel

Steel Hang 2

Insert hangers on pipes which intersect with selected steel joists or beams. The steel or structural member can be a line drawn in any layer except for a piping layer. The hanger attributes will be defined by the settings in Hanger Setup.

Steel Hang 3

Choose whether you want hangers placed on Lines, Mains or Both types of piping.

You can choose to Erase Previous Hangers inserted on these pipes.

You will be prompted to pick steel objects. Pick any ‘steel’ lines you want a hanger attached to - beams, joists, etc. These can be drawn in any layer – the only important thing is that they are AutoCAD Lines. Hangers will be inserted at all points where the ‘steel’ selected intersects with the types of pipes you chose.

Steel Hang 4

Be careful not to pick steel outside of areas which are elevated with building DefLines. This will lead to inaccurate hanger lengths.

Tip - If you are hanging from concrete tees or wood, you can draw in lines to represent these (if they are not lines already) and then choose them with this command.

If Hang From Bottom was selected for in Hanger Setup, Use Steel Depth Blocks will be selectable. The specified Steel Depth will be used to modify the hanger rod length.
