Shortcut: TRH

A trapeze hanger consists of two separate hangers inserted at the same location. One is the trapeze member itself and its fasteners. The other is the hanger that fastens the pipe to the trapeze. This latter one is known as the ‘primary hanger’ and its attributes are defined by the settings in Hanger Setup. Make sure the Hanger Length is set to Specified Length and enter the elevation and other required criteria.
The Primary Hanger field shows which hanger was set up through the Hanger Setup dialog box. The Trapeze Hanger value corresponds to the available trapeze styles. There are three factory setups to choose from.
Type 17

Type 17A

Type 17 uses angle iron for a support brace, 17A uses a pipe and 17B uses Unistrut. All include clamps and braces plus a standard #01 hanger. The primary hanger specification must be set through the Setup command before the trapeze is inserted. The size of the supporting trapeze member is determined by settings in the HydraLIST database, specifically in the Assembly area. Refer to the HydraLIST manual for more information on how to adjust these settings.
The Overhang is the extra length required for the supporting angle iron or pipe on each end. For example, if the distance between the supporting steel joists is 5’, the brace for the trapeze should be longer than this (e.g. 6”-12”).
The Rod Deduction is the length which the hanger rod must be reduced from the standard #01 hanger as specified in Setup, to accommodate the height taken up by the trapeze. The #01 hanger length must be Specified and not Computer Generated for Rod Reduction to occur.
Example
Below is a main ready for a trapeze hanger insertion. The steel joists are on 5’ centers.

The Trapeze Hanger Setup box is configured as shown at the beginning of this topic.
Press OK to pick the steel to hang from. Pick both joists.

All pipes found between the two picked points will receive a trapeze hanger.
The trapeze tag is inserted as shown and represents two hangers. The hanger with no visible attributes contains the length of pipe, angle iron or Unistrut required for support. The other is the #01 hanger. The attributes of both hangers will be picked up by the AutoList routine.
The HydraLIST stocklist report will include the correct hanger ring, beam clamps, threaded rod, and support brace. The correct rod lengths will be calculated and shown on the report.
